Clearwater Cops Rescue 2 Injured Owls in 5 Days
A little wee one was found in a trash can, and another was sitting with an injured foot outside a condo. See the super sweet photos.
CLEARWATER, FL – Twice in five days, Clearwater Police Department officers found themselves giving a hoot -- pun intended -- about wildlife, the agency said.
Officer Brad Allen came to the aid this morning of a wee screech owl after it was found in a trash can by solid waste workers at the Seminole Docks. Allen rescued the bird, that has some type of injury and is unable to fly, and took it to a bird rehabilitation facility for care.
And on Saturday, another officer responded to a resident's call about a great horned owl outside a condo on the 2700 block of Countryside Boulevard.

"It sat there looking like one of those statue owls used to scare away birds, but this one had giant, beautiful, yellow eyes that were very much alive," the department said. "The fine folks from a Dunedin veterinarian came and picked up the great horned owl, which had an injured foot."
