Clearwater Employee Dies on the Job

The death of a Clearwater city employee remains under investigation after a passerby at Eddie C. Moore Park found the man on the ground Wednesday afternoon.

According to the city, Eric Herman, who was in his 60s, had been “working in and around the lights and the electrical system for the softball fields” prior to collapsing.

In an email to media, the city said the passerby called 911 and Herman was taken to Mease Countryside Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause of death remains unknown at this time.

The city’s police, fire and risk management departments are investigating the death.
