Clearwater Flamingos Hearken In Host Of Holiday Events

The city kicked off its holiday festivities Monday by decorating 175 Clearwater plastic flamingos in holiday attire.

CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater is going pink for the holidays. The city set the mood for its holiday festivities by posting 175 plastic flamingos at the corner of Missouri Avenue and Cleveland Street Monday.

Clearwater's Flock-a-Yard event kicked off the city's second annual Holiday Extravaganza,which offers a number of events for all ages throughout the month of December to celebrate the holiday season in Downtown Clearwater.

  • Now - Dec. 22: Holiday Pop-Up Market with unique specialty shops at Second Century Studios, 331 Cleveland St. The shops will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays and will offer an assortment of items for holiday shopping, including jewelry, handmade purses, clothing, body care items, cookies, home decor and more. The Pop-Up Market will feature different vendors each week.
  • Dec. 13, 5:30 to 9 p.m.: Enjoy a family-friendly night out at the Taste of Downtown Clearwater, featuring local restaurants and merchants at Station Square Park, 612 Cleveland St., courtesy of the Downtown Clearwater Merchants Association.
  • Dec. 14 10 a.m.: Meet Santa at the Countryside Recreation Center, 2640 Sabal Springs Drive. Enjoy a pancake and sausage breakfast and take a photo with Santa Claus. Attendees can also decorate sugar cookies and create a craft. The cost is $5 with a recreation card and $7 without. Call 727-669-1914.
  • Dec. 14, 3:30 to 5 p.m.: During a leisurely walk through Downtown Clearwater, see at least 18 unique works of art from sculptures to murals during the Clearwater Arts Alliance's Inaugural Public Art Walk. Gather at Second Century Studios, 331 Cleveland St., at 3:30 p.m. to meet and shop the Holiday Pop-Up Market. The free docent-led tour begins promptly at 4 p.m. and will last about one hour within a six-block radius.
  • Dec. 14 at 6 p.m.: Holiday Movie Night will feature the Christmas movie"Elf" at Station Square Park, 612 Cleveland St. The movie will feature a visit by Santa Claus, who will meet with children. Holiday treats and snacks will be available.
  • Dec. 14, 8 to 10 p.m.: Get a great seat at Coachman Park, 301 Drew St., for the Island Estates Holiday Boat Parade. Watch as more than 60 decorated boats pass through the Mandalay and Clearwater Marina channels. The parade can be viewed from Coachman Park, waterfront restaurants, hotels and private homes. Boats should begin passing Coachman Park sometime around 8 p.m. The Florida Brass Alumni Drum and Bugle Corps Holiday Concert will take place before the parade at 7 p.m.

    • Dec. 21 at 6 p.m.: Holiday Movie Night will feature "The Grinch" (2018) at Station Square Park, 612 Cleveland St. There will be a free live musical performance by the James Suggs Jazz Quartet at 6 p.m. followed by the movie. The movie night will also feature Santa Claus who will meet with children. Holiday treats and snacks will be available.

    Park for free all day on weekends and after 6 p.m. weekdays at city parking garages and on-street parking.
