Clearwater Man Accused Of Attempting To Kidnap Child From Car

A Clearwater man was arrested Sunday after he was accused of trying to kidnap a child from a Walmart parking lot in Clearwater.

Austin Brian Eilert, 24, of Clearwater was charged with trespass in a structure or conveyance (after a warning), attempted kidnapping, and burglary with assault or battery.

CLEARWATER, FL — A Clearwater man was arrested Sunday after he was accused of trying to kidnap a child from a Walmart parking lot in Clearwater.

According to police, Austin Brian Eilert, 24, of Clearwater approached a parked Dodge Charger Sunday afternoon, opened the rear passenger door and tried to pull a child out from the car.

The child broke free of Eilert’s grasp.

Eilert tried to run away from the scene, but a member of Eilbert's family followed him and pointed him out to officers when they arrived.

He's charged with trespass in a structure or conveyance (after a warning), attempted kidnapping, and burglary with assault or battery.
