Clearwater Man Charged After Colliding With Sheriff's Car
A Clearwater man has been charged with careless driving following a crash with a Pinellas County Sheriff's deputy.

CLEARWATER, FL – A Clearwater man has been charged with careless driving and driving without a valid driver’s license following a crash with a Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputy at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, May 30.
According to the sheriff’s office, Deputy Rick Serra Jr., 52, was on duty, traveling south on McMullen Booth Road in a marked 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe. Jeronimo Herrera, 31, was directly behind Serra.
Serra saw a disabled vehicle stopped at McMullen Booth Road and Martin Luther King Street with its emergency flashers activated. He turned on his emergency lights and slowed to assist the disabled vehicle.

Herrera failed to stop and struck Serra's rear bumper.
Serra was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Herrera refused medical treatment.
