Clearwater Man Charged With DUI Following Fiery Crash On I-4

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — A 36-year-old Clearwater man has been charged with driving under the influence following a fiery crash on Interstate 4 Thursday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 2:15 a.m., the Clearwater man was driving east on I-4 west of McIntosh Road when he lost control of his car, entered the outside shoulder and collided with an abandoned pickup truck.

Both vehicles then caught fire. In addition to being charged with a DUI, the driver was cited for careless driving.
