CLEARWATER, FLA – Clearwater Police are reminding local residents and beach visitors to be careful of where they park their vehicles after one motorist returned to find that their parking spot wasn't as safe as first expected.

The police department posted a photo of a car that had been parked on the beach after the driver decided to go on a early-morning sunrise walk over the weekend. Rather than coming back to find the spot like it had been when they left, the driver returned to find that the morning tide had washed over the beach.

"Be very careful of where you park when you go for a walk at sunrise and the tide comes rolling in along the Courtney Campbell Causeway," the Clearwater Police social media post reads "The sign and barriers are there for a reason."
