Clearwater Police Real-Time Crime App Keeps Residents Up To Date

The Clearwater Police Department is joining Ring's Neighbors app to provide Clearwater residents with local, real-time crime.

CLEARWATER, FL -- The Clearwater Police Department is joining Ring's Neighbors app to provide Clearwater residents with local, real-time crime and public safety information, and also to help detectives solve crimes.

Created by the makers of the Ring Video Doorbell, Neighbors is designed to allow residents to monitor neighborhood activity, share crime-related information and receive real-time safety alerts from neighbors, police and the Ring Neighbors team.

Neighbors also makes it easier for detectives to access video that could help them solve criminal cases. Just last week, a Ring video from a Clearwater home led to the arrest of a teenager on burglary and grand theft charges. That arrest occurred after the suspect's mother saw her son's face on social media and local television news and she turned him in to police.

"New technologies allow for improved information sharing between the public and the police," said Police Chief Dan Slaughter. "The Neighbors network is yet another tool in our tool box, and we look forward to solving more cases with the help of Ring and its Neighbors network."

"We're excited to have the Clearwater Police Department join Neighbors to keep their community up to date on local crime and safety information," said Jamie Siminoff, chief inventor and founder of Ring. "Over the past few years, we have learned that when neighbors, the Ring team and local law enforcement all work together, we can create safer communities."
