CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater Police detectives are asking for the public's help to identify a strong-armed robber.

The crime occurred late Friday night at the Speedway convenience store at 32 Bay Esplanade. That's when the robber pretending to be a customer dropped a case of beer on the floor and then asked for a broom to help clean it up. When the clerk was distracted, the robber went behind the counter and grabbed some lottery tickets.

When the clerk tried to intervene, the robber battered him.
