Sprouts Farmers Market in Clearwater is slated to open Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 7 a.m.

CLEARWATER, FL -- The day Clearwater shoppers have been waiting nearly a year for has arrived. Sprouts Farmers Market in Clearwater is slated to open Wednesday, Jan. 16 at 7 a.m.

If this grand opening is anything like the openings of the stores in Palm Harbor, South Tampa, Carrollwood and Valrico, eager shoppers will begin lining up at 6 a.m. to take advantage of opening-day specials including a coupon for 20 percent off all opening-day purchases for the first 200 customers.

The public is invited to join the festivities and shop among thousands of items offered throughout the 32,000-square-foot store. The grand opening will include giveaways, specials and food tastings as well. And every customer on grand opening day will receive one free reusable bag with a purchase.

The Clearwater store will offer local brands Daikin Dairy, Humanitea, Kombucha 221 B.C. and Terrapin Ridge Farms.

The store also has a deli with prepared entrees and side dishes, The Butcher Shop and The Fish Market at Sprouts and an expansive vitamins and supplements department.

And, as part of Sprouts’ commitment to “zero waste,” the new Clearwater store will donate unsold and edible groceries to Feeding Tampa Bay through the grocer’s Food Rescue program.

In 2017, Sprouts stores and distribution centers donated 23 million pounds of product, equivalent to 19 million meals. Food that is not fit for donation is given to local cattle farms and composting facilities.

The Clearwater store in Sunset Point Shopping Center, 23656 U.S. 19 N., is the newest but not the last Tampa Bay store for the Arizona-based grocery chain. The company has announced plans to open stores in New Tampa at the intersection of Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Hunter's Green Drive; in Seminole Plaza, in Summerfield Crossing Shopping Center in Riverview and at The Village at Mitchell Ranch at State Road 54 and Little Road in Trinity.

Nationwide, Sprouts operates more than 300 stores in 19 states.

The new Clearwater Sprouts will be open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
