Clearwater Storm Damage Photos

Strong winds and a confirmed tornado ripped through Pinellas County early Thursday morning.

CLEARWATER, FL — While most Tampa Bay area residents escaped the wrath of Thursday morning’s storms, some in the Clearwater area weren’t so lucky.

Clearwater Fire & Rescue has confirmed damage to three townhomes along Brigadoon Drive and reports of felled trees have also rolled in.

“Plenty of issues related to strong thunderstorms that swept through the area this morning,” the Clearwater Police Department reported on its Facebook page. “The main issues are trees that have been downed as well as fallen power lines.”

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado in Pinellas County, but it remains unclear if the twister is responsible for damage in Clearwater.

Meanwhile, damage has also been reported along the U.S. 19 corridor in Pasco County. An estimated 24 homes and businesses in the Port Richey and New Port Richey areas were damaged in the early morning hours, county officials confirmed.
