Clearwater Streets Closed, Traffic Lights Out

Clearwater is asking motorists to avoid a few roads Tuesday morning.

CLEARWATER, FL — Motorists who travel through the Clearwater area might encounter a few post-Tropical Storm Colin issues as they do Tuesday morning.

According to Clearwater Public Safety, Bayshore and Johns Parkway was closed to traffic Tuesday morning. The agency also warned the traffic light at Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and Highland is out.

Motorists who must travel through Gulf-to-Bay and Highland are asked to treat the intersection like a four-way stop.

It is unclear just how soon local roads will return to normal.

The entire Tampa Bay area remains under a flood watch until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Showers are anticipated throughout the day Tuesday with the possibility of more thunderstorms, as well.

Street flooding has been reported across the region with roads in St. Petersburg, Tampa and elsewhere also closed.

Scattered thunderstorms are also anticipated throughout the day on Wednesday and into the evening hours. Rain is expected to continue on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
