Clearwater Teen Hit by PSTA Bus

A 16-year-old Clearwater boy is in serious condition following a run-in with a PSTA bus Monday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the boy, who has not yet been identified, walked in front of a northbound bus along Greenbriar Boulevard and Sutton Place around 6:26 p.m.

Allen Ray Smart, 52, of St. Petersburg was behind the wheel of the bus at the time.

Smart could not see the teen, an email from the highway patrol stated. “The pedestrian did not use a crosswalk and the area was dark with no lights,” troopers noted.

The teen was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital with serious, but not-life-threatening injuries.
