Coast Guard, Dunedin Firefighters Rescue Stranded Kayakers
The Coast Guard and partner agencies rescued two kayakers Thursday whose vessel overturned due to bad weather near the Memorial Causeway.

CLEARWATER, FL --The Coast Guard and partner agencies rescued two kayakers Thursday whose vessel overturned due to bad weather near the Memorial Causeway in Clearwater.
At 5:57 p.m., Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg Command Center watch standers received a call from a good Samaritan on shore reporting multiple distressed kayakers in the Clearwater Harbor north of the Memorial Causeway.
Watch standers issued an urgent marine information broadcast, launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small II crew from Coast Guard Station Sand Key, and diverted an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew from Air Station Clearwater. Marine units from the Dunedin Fire Department and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission responded to assist.

The RB-S boat crew located the distressed kayakers at 6:21 p.m., and rescued one while Dunedin fire personnel rescued the other.
Both people and their kayaks were transported to Seminole Boat Ramp. No injuries were reported.
