Colvin Gives Up Early Runs In Thresher Loss
Threshers look to avoid a sweep in Daytona after a 4-3 defeat on Saturday.

The Clearwater Threshers left the tying run on third base with one out on Saturday (Aug. 13), in losing to the Daytona Cubs 4-3.
Second baseman Cesar Hernandez lead off the top of the ninth with his second single of the game and shortstop Troy Hanzawa followed with a double. Jiwan James grounded out to score a run but a strikeout to Jeremy Barnes and a line out from Darin Ruf would end the ball game.
It was the third loss in a row for the Threshers and added to an already horrible road record in the second half to 8-15.

Brody Colvin's woes continued as the 20 year old gave up four runs in the first three innings. The Phillies number one prospect, according to Baseball America, did settle down to shut the Cubs out from innings four through six but the damage had been done. His record fell to 2-7 on the year.
On Deck: The Threshers send newcomer David Buchanan to the mound Sunday to face the Cubs in Daytona.

After a day off on Monday, Clearwater will return home to face the Dunedin Blue Jays Tuesday (Aug. 16).
Need to Know: Alex Rodriguez the All-Star third baseman for the New York Yankees again joined the Tampa Yankees in Dunedin Saturday. Rodriguez went hitless in four times to the plate but the Yankees won regardless.
The standings in the North Division of the Florida State League got even tighter after Saturday's results. Tampa and Dunedin are tied for first with Clearwater a game back and Daytona a game and a half back.
The GC Phillies left 13 men on base, losing to the GC Pirates 11-4.
First baseman/designated hitter Mike Marshall, 22, went two for three with a double, scoring both runs raising his batting average to .283.
