Congratulations to Our Patch Athlete of the Week

Andrew Hitt is a force to be reckoned with for opposing offenses.

He is a lock-down defender and a major reason why the Cougars did not lose a match in regulation until the state semifinals.

His coach David Sica had high praise for the young athlete.

“Andrew is the glue that held our team together the entire season," Sica said. "In order for a team to do as well as ours did throughout the season, you must have a field general. Andrew was that guy for us the entire year.  I can't tell you enough how important that Andrew is to this team."

He is also an active member in his school and community. Hitt is a volunteer at Clearwater Parks and Recreation, where he helps chaperone kids that come there for summer camp. He has logged over one thousand hours of service.

How did you get started in soccer? 

My mom put me in a league when I was a kid and that was it. Soccer is the most exciting thing I’ve ever done in my life. I’m a three year starter on the team and have been on the team for four years.

What is your favorite thing about soccer?

Hitting people. It’s very fulfilling. I just love to play the game. It’s hard to explain, it’s just passion.

What are you plans for college?

I’ve been accepted to USF and have an offer from UT. I definitely want to play and want to play defense at the next level.

Where do you see yourself in ten years?

Hopefully playing two level up in the pros. I plan to keep at the game, no matter what happens.
