Construction Worker Dies After Being Struck By Backhoe

CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater Police detectives are investigating a fatal construction accident in which a backhoe struck a construction worker.

The accident occurred at 10:48 a.m. Tuesday at a site where land was being cleared for a town home development at 1895 Virginia Ave.

The worker was pronounced dead at the scene by Dunedin Fire Department paramedics. The name of the victim will not be released until relatives are notified.
