'COPS' Spotlights Pinellas Starting This Weekend
The first episode is set to debut on Saturday.

Tampa Bay area residents curious to know just what happens on the mean streets of Pinellas County will get their chance starting Saturday when “COPS” debuts its first episode filmed in the area.
Crews from the Spike TV show spent 12 weeks with deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office late last year. They shot footage for about 10 stories that will be featured during the show’s 27th season. More than a dozen local deputies are anticipated to be featured, the sheriff’s office announced when filming wrapped up in December
Saturday’s episode, titled “On Thin Ice,” includes segments shot in the area.

“A defiant suspect winds up on the wrong side of a K-9 bite,” the “COPS” YouTube page teases. “A former fiancé becomes a neighborhood nuisance when he pays his ex an unwanted visit. A routine traffic stop turns into warrants, pregnancy, and meth.”
The episode runs at 8 p.m. on Spike TV.

“The show will provide an opportunity for the great work done by Pinellas County Sheriff’s deputies on a daily basis to be showcased to a nationwide audience,” an email to media sent at the time filming wrapped up stated. “The ‘stories’ set to air have captured deputies handling a variety of calls for service, which included arrest scenarios involving drugs, domestics and even a burglary.”
