Cosart Shuts Down Marauders To Complete Homestand

Jarred Cosart picked up his ninth win of the season on Thursday (July 28) with seven shut-out innings in a 3-1 win over the Bradenton Marauders.

The win completed a very successful homestand which saw the Threshers get back to .500 and now trail the North Division leading Tampa Yankees by three games.

The 21 year old Texas native who has been invovled in plenty of Major League trade rumors gave up only six hits in seven scoreless innings.

A two-run fifth was the difference in the well pitched game. Second baseman Cesar Hernandez and shortstop Troy Hanzawaz each had RBI singles in the inning.

On Deck: The Threshers (17-17) travel to Palm Beach (19-16) to face the Cardinals for four games starting Friday (July 29).

Need To Know: On Wednesday (July 27) Bradenton pounded out 12 hits in defeating Clearwater 6-1.

Brody Colvin took the loss giving up three runs on five hits in five complete innings. Five walks compared to just three strike-outs contributed to his early exit.

Red hot Darin Ruf went 2 for 3 improving his batting average to .312 and placing him eighth in the Florida State League in that category.
