Countryside Star Pitcher Dominic Monda Signs with HCC
The southpaw will take his skills to the collegiate level playing for the Hawks at Hillsborough Community College.
One cougar will become a hawk.
Countryside High School Senior accepted a scholarship offer and will play baseball at Hillsborough Community College.
"There is not a single thing he doesn't do well on the baseball field,” coach Kemo O’Sullivan said in a press release. “He carried Countryside on his back and into the playoffs.”
The southpaw led the Cougars (19-10) to their first playoff berth in 10 years. Countryside played well through the tournament but to Sarasota 8-2 in the finals April 29.
The versatile player was second in the rotation and in the batting order.
Monda went 8-3 with a 2.20 ERA and 118 strikeouts in 70 innings during the season, according to maxpreps.com.

While at the plate, Monda also hit .343 with 17 RBI including a grand slam, according to a press release.
He was selected to the Pinellas County Athletic Conference first team and the Dunedin Spring All Tournament Team as an outfielder. And Monda was also chosen as a pitcher to the Pinellas All Star Team.

The Pinellas All Star Team plays the Hilsborough All Star team Wednesday night at Tropicana Field.
