Cross-Dressing Driver Crashes into Retirement Home

Tampa police say he was trying to avoid a DUI traffic stop.

Residents at Tampa Baptist Manor had a rude awakening early Tuesday morning when a car driven by Rico Antwan Jones, 28, crashed into their building. The motorist was wearing a woman’s bra, panties and high-heel shoes at the time.

Tampa Police say the unusual occurrence got its start around 3 a.m. when police tried to pull the driver over because they thought he might be impaired. Rather than pull over for the DUI stop, the man fled from the area of West Cleveland Street and South Moody Avenue, the Tampa Bay Times reported. Police pursued him for a time, but backed off.

Jones, however, kept going – straight into retirement apartment complex at Grand Central and South Plant Avenues. Following the crash, Jones tried to run away on foot, but Tampa officers were able to prevent his getaway.
