Cubs Defeat Threshers On Late Homer
Brody Colvin is pulled after just four innings in 8-6 loss to the Cubs.

A two-run homer by Greg Rohan, his second of the game, in the top of the seventh clinched an 8-6 win for the Daytona Cubs over the Clearwater Threshers on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 7).
The Threshers fell behind 3-0 in the top of the first but replied with three of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Down 6-4 the Threshers scored two in the bottom of the fifth to even the score, however the Cubs closer Frank Batista made the two-run homer stand up with his 22nd save of the season.
Phillies top prospect Brody Colvin left the game after just four innings surrending six runs on 10 hits and striking out three. The 20 year old from Lafayette, La. saw his record fall to 2-6 in his first year in the Florida State League.

Brian Gump (6) and Darin Ruf (14) hit back to back homers in the first and leftfielder Cyle Hankerd chipped in with a three hit game.
Hankerd is a Southern California Trojan alum who was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the third round of 2006 First-Year Player Draft. The D-Backs released him in February 2011 after he played for the AAA Reno Aces in 2010.

The 26-year old has been playing for the Amarillo Sox of the independent American Association waiting for an opportunity to return to a major league organization.
In five games the 6'3" leftfielder is batting .333 with two homers and three RBI's.

The first place Yankees stunned the Dunedin Blue Jays by scoring four runs in the bottom of the ninth Sunday, defeating the Jays 8-7.
The win puts the Yankees two games up on both the Threshers and Jays while the Cubs remain three back.
