Detectives Investigate Inmate's Death At Pinellas County Jail

CLEARWATER, FL — Pinellas County Sheriff's detectives are investigating an inmate's death at the Pinellas County Jail.

The inmate, 54-year-old Julio Vega, of 4106 W. Laurel St., Tampa, was transported to Northside Hospital on July 14 and was pronounced dead Saturday.

Vega was arrested Jan. 21 and charged with six failure to appear warrants. He was housed in the south division pods when he suffered a medical event.

The medical examiner's office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
