Clearwater Community Volunteers Annual Fashion Fundraiser Feature Tampa Bay’s Leading Ladies Walking the Runway at Historic Fort Harrison

Summary:  9th Annual “Fashions with Flair” to Benefit Shriner’s Hospital, Tampa’s The Children’s Home and Clearwater Family Holiday Festival Winter Wonderland

 

Clearwater, Fl – 2011 - The Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV) is hosting its 9th Annual “Fashions with Flair” Silent Auction and Fashion Show Fundraiser at the historic Fort Harrison on Saturday, September 17th, 2011 from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm.  Pam Ryan Anderson, Chairman of CCV, said, “Hundreds of volunteers donate their time to put on this fundraiser, but we always have a heck of time doing it.”  Proceeds from the Fashion Show will benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children, The Children’s Home, Inc. and Clearwater’s family, holiday festival Winter Wonderland.

 

Each year, CCV’s fashion show features several leading ladies of Tampa Bay on the runway.  This year’s models are, in alphabetical order:  Margaret Word Burnside – executive editor of Tampa Bay Magazine; Cat Coats – wife of Pinellas County Sheriff and who also serves on the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry Board, Girlfriends of Pinellas Co, The Boys and Girls Club of the Suncoast and The Pace Center for Girls;  Joy Gendusa – CEO of Postcardmania;  Lorena Rivas Hardwick – Legislative Aide to Tampa City Councilman; Pat Harney, - Public Affairs Director of the Church of Scientology; Kellie Lightbourn - television personality, attorney and motivational speaker; Pilar Ortiz – owner of Pilar Ortiz Enterprises; Lydia Pizarro - Tampa Police Crime Prevention Program Coordinator assigned to the Special Operations Division;  Julie Rice – a St. Petersburg attorney and daughter of Everett Rice, former state representative; Linda Rice – wife of former Pinellas County Sheriff Everett Rice ;  Carol Sue Roberts – a National Officer for the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Inc. and a Realtor at Coldwell Banker;  Bahiyyah Sadiki – school teacher Gibbs High School and wife of Imam Wilmore Sadiki;  Susan Valdes – Hillsborough County School Board member and Lauralee Westine – attorney and wife of Chief Deputy and General Counsel of Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Bob Gualtieri.

 

Ambria’s of St. Petersburg, designer John William Barger III, and Solei Boutique and Island Fashions will provide the couture for the ladies.  The Silent Auction items are priced from $5 to thousands with something for everyone, including items from crafts and baked goods to celebrity endorsed goods, children’s items, sports memorabilia, tons of gift certificates, art, gift baskets, and designer jewelry.

What is Clearwater Community Volunteers (CCV)

CCV is a non-profit, charitable organization, made up entirely of volunteers and is a community arm of the Church of Scientology in Clearwater.  CCV produces the huge Easter Egg Hunt in Coachman Park in Clearwater every Spring and “Winter Wonderland” – an annual holiday charity drive in downtown Clearwater featuring 5 village buildings, 100 live pine trees, a fully functioning stage with entertainment, tens of thousands of tiny white lights, pony & train rides, a playground, a giant slide and bouncy house, and of course Santa and Mrs. Claus. CCV gets their inspiration from the quote by L Ron Hubbard, "Love and Help Children."

 

What is Shriners:

Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, the hospitals, known as "The World's Greatest Philanthropy," are owned and operated by Shriners International. There is no requirement for religion, race, or relationship to a Shriner. Patients must be under the age of 18, and treatable. Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of 22 non-profit hospitals across North America. Children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate are eligible for care and receive all services in a family-centered environment, regardless of the patients’ ability to pay.

 

What is the Children’s Home:

The Children's Home is a 501 (C)(3) not-for-profit organization serving Central Florida’s struggling families and children seeking the comfort of a loving family. With roots that can be traced back to 1892, they provide a safe haven for children who have suffered abuse, neglect or abandonment. Their mission is to create a community where children and families feel loved, nurtured, and safe. The Children’s Home has helped more than 6,000 children realize their dream of a family, and has cared for more than 25,000 children in the community through their nationally recognized residential treatment program and their Family Support and Resource Centers.
