It’s breakfast time at the Finnish American Club in New Port Richey, and diners are eating eggy Finnish oven pancakes, smokies, belgian waffles and sweet cardamom bread.
Diners will gather on Saturday, Dec. 17, to feast on the traditional Finnish pannukakku and sweet bread, called pulla or nissu in Finnish.
Finnish residents in New Port Richey started meeting shortly after World War II to send food to Finland as it experienced food shortages. The Finnish American Club was started in town as a nonprofit in 1949.
