The Florida Center for Creative Photography plans to meet on Clearwater Beach (weather permitting) to photograph a a rare event: the planet Venus passing across the sun. Known as the transit of Venus, this won't happen again until 2117, officials say.
To protect your eyesight, do not look directly at the sun. According to a story in the Associated Press, people watching this celestial event should look through a telescope outfitted with a special filter; special solar-eclipse glasses from a museum or welding glasses (number 14 or darker); or a pinhole projector with cardboard.
