The colorful history of Weedon Island Preserve comes alive with a history hike to some of Weedon’s special spots. Did you know the first airport in the Tampa Bay area was located on the Preserve? Did you know that Weedon Island Preserve once had a movie studio? Come and join us as we explore the exciting, and sometimes unbelievable, history of Weedon Island Preserve. For the past 2000 years, there has never been a dull moment in this corner of Pinellas County.
We will be hiking through coastal mangrove and upland ecosystems of the Preserve so be sure to bring water and a snack. A hat and closed-toe shoes are also recommended.
