2 Pedestrians Injured in Gulf-to-Bay Crash

A man tried to save a woman from an oncoming car, but both were hit.

The Clearwater Police Department is investigating an early Thursday morning crash on Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard that sent two people to the hospital.

According to the police department, officers were called to Gulf-to-Bay’s intersection with Meadow Lark Lane just after 5:30 a.m. There they found two pedestrians that had been trying to cross Gulf-to-Bay from south to north injured following a collision with a Mitsubishi Outlander, an email to media stated.

The male pedestrian was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa while the female was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg.

Police say the man tried to get the woman out of the way of the car, but both were ultimately struck.

The identities of the two victims are not being released. Police say they are both from out of state.

The driver of the car, Jeffrey Moore, 67, of Clearwater was uninjured.

The investigation remains ongoing.
