UPDATED: 10:46 a.m., Monday morning

CLEARWATER, FL — An 8-year-old girl missing in Clearwater has been found safe, the Clearwater Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.

Alessia Muhaj, who was reported missing Monday, was last seen in the 1700 block of Clearwater Road North, according to a notice from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

A statewide Amber Alert issued for her has been canceled.

The girl's father, Renato Muhaj, 34, a suspect in a felony battery case that happened overnight in the 2200 block of Nursery Road, is in custody, Clearwater police said.

The Largo Police Department told WFLA that there is a death investigation connected to the case.
