The National Weather Service in Ruskin has issued a flood watch through 8 p.m. Friday as storms make their way through the area. A flood watch means that flooding is possible during the next 24 to 36 hours.

The watch comes on the heels of heavy rain in the area over the past few days. Some coastal towns have received as much as 8 inches of rain in the past 24 hours the weather service said another 3 to 5 inches may fall Friday.
