Halloween Mask-Wearing Man Accused Of Robbing Subway At Gunpoint

Just moments after the Clearwater restaurant was robbed, police spotted a man walking out wearing a Halloween mask and carrying a gun.

CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater police have arrested a 20-year-old Clearwater man accused of holding up a Subway restaurant at gunpoint while wearing a Halloween mask.

At 9:46 p.m. Monday, just moments after the Subway at 18419 U.S. 19 N. was robbed, police spotted John Greenlee Jr., 20, of Clearwater as he walked out of the restaurant armed with a gun and wearing a Halloween mask.

An officer ordered Greenlee to lay on the ground, but Greenlee got up and ran. He was tackled by the officer and taken into custody.

Fifteen minutes before the Subway was robbed, police said Greenlee tried to rob a Speedway gas station at 2577 Harn Blvd.

He's charged with two counts of armed robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest without violence.
