Hernandez Bomb Ignites Threshers' Rally

Threshers continue their dominance of rival Jays in 8-4 victory.

With a rainbow rising over the right field fence, the Threshers took another one from the Jays Monday (June 6), 8-4.

It marks the ninth victory in 11 games for the Threshers over their neighbors from the north.

The Jays built a 3-1 lead until an unlikely hero turned the game around.

Light hitting Cesar Hernandez hit a three run homer. It was the twenty-one year olds' first round tripper of the season and the Threshers never looked back.

Hernandez is a fourth year Phillies pro. He started his professional career as a 17 year old in his homeland of Venezuela (2007). After a second year in the Venezuelan league he joined the Gulf Coast Phillies (2009). Last year he played low A in Williamsport, Pa. batting .325, and making only seven errors in 65 games at second base.

Hernandez has struggled at the plate in his first year in the FSL, however his defense is where he shines. He has made just four errors in 43 games. Compare that to the 15 errors by the D-Jays everyday second basemen Ivan Contreras.
