Hole In Drew Street Prompts Closing
A section of the Clearwater roadway is closed following the Tuesday afternoon opening of a hole.

CLEARWATER, FL -- Motorists heading east on Drew Street in Clearwater may want to take a different route if plans call for travel near Jupiter Avenue.
According to the Clearwater Police Department, Drew Street closed in the eastbound direction at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday after a hole opened up in the roadway near Jupiter Avenue.
"The state Department of Transportation is en route to the scene because it is a state-maintained road," an email from the police department explained. "The hole is described as being slightly larger than a manhole cover in width and 4 to 5 feet deep."

No further information is available at this time. Westbound lanes remained open as of 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.
