How Much Of A Floridian Are You?

Whether you’re a born and bred Sunshine State native or a transplant that has embraced the idiosyncrasies that make Florida, Florida a new online quiz aims to test your cred as a Floridian.

Put together by the folks at BuzzFeed, the quiz ranks people from “Fauxridian” to “Florida-iest” by running through a series of 41 quirky questions. From queries about Publix, mosquitoes and hurricanes to knowledge of Florida’s native critters and its famous people, each positive response adds a bit more cred to a final tally.

Acknowledging that many residents happen to be transplants, BuzzFeed, the website dedicated to viral news and sharable content and quizzes, does admit that being a Floridian is more than just claiming the state as the place of one’s birth.

“It’s a state of mind,” the piece admits.

For the record, I scored “Florida Gr8er” status. Pretty good for an Upstate New York transplant who moved here as a kid, but I have to admit there are a few more points to ponder I might have included on the list:

• You don’t bother with an umbrella in the summer because “torrential downpours” only last minutes
• You’ve tried – and liked – alligator
• You’ve gone swimming (bike riding, jogging, running) on Christmas Day
• You’ve thrown (or attended) a hurricane party
• You’ve been jealous of northern kids and their snow days
• You know exactly what a hanging chad is
