Jays End Threshers Winning Streak

Blue Jays pitching overpowers Clearwater bats in 2-1 win.

The Florida State League has a history of being a pitcher's league. The Dunedin Blue Jays and Clearwater Threshers did nothing to discredit that notion as they faced each other May 6 at Bright House Field.

Blue Jays pitching gave up only one run on five hits, snapping the Threshers' six-game winning streak. It was also a little redemption for the Threshers' early season four-game sweep over the Jays.

Jays pitcher Matt Wright celebrated his 24th birthday with three perfect innings of middle relief. The Shippensberg State alumni is in his fourth year of Pro Ball after being drafted in the 12th round by the Toronto Blue Jays.

Jays pitcher Wes Etheridge came on for his eighth save of the season, thanks to the two spectacular catches by both Kenny Wilson and Justin Jackson that ended the game.
