Jays Rally To Defeat Threshers

A four run sixth lifts the Dunedin Blue Jays to a 6-5 victory.

The Clearwater Threshers blew a 5-1 lead, losing to the Dunedin Jays, 6-5 Wednesday.

This was only the third loss of the season for the Threshers against the D-Jays in 12 contests.

Leandro Castro celebrated his 22nd birthday with his tenth homer of the year and third in two nights. The native of  La Romana, Dominican Republic, was running with a noticeable limp but it did not effect his power the past two nights.

Clearwater's bats have built comfortable leads in three of their last four games, only to see the league leading pitching staff allow the opponents back in the game.

On Saturday, the Daytona Cubs came back from a 6-0 deficit to beat the Threshers 9-6. Tuesday in Dunedin, the Jays fell behind 9-1, only to lose the game in ten innings, 13-12. Wednesday, Clearwater starter Julio Rodriguez had given up two solo homers entering the sixth, with a 5-2 lead. A pair of walks and two singles would send Rodriguez to the showers. Eric Pettis relieved Rodriguez and gave up a two run double to the first man he faced, Brad McElroy.

Cesar Hernandez continues his improvement with the bat. The smooth fielding second basemen hit an inside the park home-run, his third of the year.
