Lennerton's Grand Slam Sinks Threshers
Clearwater loads the bases four times with little to show for it losing to the Flying Tigers 8-4.

The Lakeland Flying Tigers scored six runs in the fifth inning on their way to a convincing 8-4 victory over the Threshers Saturday (July 2).
Jonathan Lennerton's grand slam off Clearwater's Trevor May proved to be the difference.
It was the second game in the past four that the Threshers have been victimized by the grand slam. On Wednesday (June 29), the Brevard County's, Sean McCraw, hit a grand slam off Julio Rodriguez giving the Manatees a 4-2 win.

As for Clearwater, they had plenty of opportunities early to build a comfortable lead. In the first and second innings the slumping Threshers had the bases loaded only to come away with a single run. After falling behind 6-2 they would again load the bases in the seventh and eighth but were unable to make up the deficit.
The Threshers finished the month of June with a 9-16 record and have lost the first two in July.

On deck: Clearwater (3-7) will close out their homestand, Sunday (July 3), hosting the Lakeland Flying Tigers (4-4). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Need to Know: The GC Phillies split a doubleheader with the GC Tigers on Saturday losing 7-4 and winniing 3-2 in ten innings. Big first basemen Frank Duffy had a two-run double in a losing cause. James Birmingham picked up the save in the victory. The left-handed Coastal Carolina alum has yielded only one hit in five innings, including eight strikeouts.
