Major Beach Soccer National Champions Crowned at Clearwater Beach

The inaugural Major Beach Soccer national championship at Clearwater Beach was a kick.

Florida Beach Soccer FC won the men’s national championship with a 1-0 victory over Team Spartan on Sunday.

Kelly McShane’s goal in the opening minute of overtime gave the Peace Passers, from North Carolina, the women’s national championship with a 4-3 victory over Soccer in the Sand, from San Diego.

Eight men’s teams and four women’s teams played 36-minute, five-on-five games to be the first Major Beach Soccer national champions.

Teams came from California, Michigan, North Carolina and even Ohio to play soccer on the sugar sand beach near Pier 60.
