Man Accused Of Damaging Cameras On Scientology Buildings
Police said Robert Harris, 76, told them he was simply "saying hello to the people of Scientology."
CLEARWATER, FL — Police have arrested a 76-year-old Clearwater man after he was accused of pointing a high-powered laser at surveillance cameras mounted on buildings owned by the Church of Scientology, causing $2,091.46 in damage.
Robert Harris was arrested Monday for an incident that occurred Feb. 26.
According to Clearwater police, Harris pointed a laser at three cameras of a church-owned building on Cleveland Street and three cameras at another church-owned building on Fort Harrison Avenue, causing permanent damage to the lenses of the cameras.

Harris was captured on surveillance video pointing the laser. When police interviews him, he told them he was simply "saying hello to the people of Scientology.”
He was charged with one count of felony criminal mischief.
