Man Bragged About Killing Another, Cops Say

The man was brought into custody in the Clearwater case Thursday.

The Clearwater Police Department has made an arrest in the May 4 slaying of Charles Ferrell.

Ferrell, 51, was found dead inside an abandoned house at 806 N. Osceola Ave. Police say he had been beaten to death with an “old-style large television” and with a glass jug.

An arrest in the case didn’t come until Thursday afternoon when police say they brought Marshall Harris, 35, into custody.

“Harris told others that he had beaten and killed the victim, and his DNA and fingerprints were found at the scene,” an email to media from the police department stated.

Harris was brought into custody at 1120 N. Betty Lane and how faces a first-degree murder charge.

Harris was being held without bond in the Pinellas County Jail Friday.
