CLEARWATER, FL --A 25-minute standoff ended peacefully Tuesday when a 58-year-old man agreed to hand over his weapons after firing shots from his boat at the city's Harbor Marina on Drew Street.

Clearwater Police were called to the marina just before 3 a.m. after witnesses reported that the unnamed man was walking around his boat armed with a shotgun and a handgun, yelling that his boat had been burglarized. The man then fired two shots from his boat and one from the dock, prompting police to close the westbound lanes of Memorial Causeway while officers tried to convince the man to put down his weapons.

The man finally agreed to give up his guns. He was taken to a mental facility under the Baker Act for evaluation.
