Man Found Off Sand Key Identified

The Clearwater Police Department has identified a man whose body was found by a boater in water off Sand Key Tuesday.

According to the agency, Daniel James Austin, 60, was pulled from the water. The cause of death is being determined by the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner’s Office.

Austin, an email from the police department said, had been reported missing on Monday afternoon when he didn’t show up for work. No one had heard from him since Sunday evening.

Police say Austin’s belongings were found on the northern part of Clearwater Beach.

No further information is being released at this time.
