Man Injured After SUV Hits Car, Porch

CLEARWATER, FL — A 44-year-old man has been hospitalized after Clearwater Police say he lost control of his Cadillac Escalade along David Avenue Monday afternoon.

According to the Clearwater Police Department, the accident happened around 1:42 p.m. when Elton John Garcia lost control of the vehicle just north of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and struck a parked car at 312 David Ave. The SUV continued through two front yards, eventually stopping after running into the front porch at 320 David Ave.

A man was inside the Honda Accord struck by the Escalade, but he was not injured, police wrote in an email to media.

Garcia was injured, however, and was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg for treatment following the crash.

It is unclear at this time what caused the crash. Police have not said if Garcia was cited.

Clearwater Fire & Rescue officials had to stabilize part of the porch Garcia’s vehicle struck, the agency noted.
