Man 'Kicked, Punched and Bit' Infant, Cops Say

A search is on for the suspect as the child remains hospitalized with a severe head injury.

The Pinellas Park Police Department is asking Tampa Bay area residents to keep their eyes open for Glen Franklin Neal Jr.

Investigators have connected Neal, 31, with a brutal attack on an 11-month-old boy on Sunday.

According to the department, an investigation was launched on July 5 after officers responded to All Children’s Hospital following reports that an 11-month-old boy had been hospitalized with a severe head injury.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives say they learned that “Neal kicked, punched and bit the infant resulting in the head trauma,” an email to media from the department states. The boy, who is not being identified, remains hospitalized in serious condition with bleeding on his brain.

Police say the relationship between Neal and the child remains unclear, but they have determined the child was in his care and custody at the time of the injury. Anyone who knows Neal’s whereabouts is asked to call local law enforcement immediately.

“Neal has a violent criminal history to include child neglect, resisting arrest, fleeing to elude, cocaine possession and battery upon a law enforcement officer,” the department’s email warned.
