Man's Body Found Floating Off Sand Key Park

CLEARWATER, FL — Clearwater Police detectives are continuing a death investigation after the body of a man was found floating off Sand Key Park just before 4 p.m. Saturday. He was later identified as Lonnie Wilson, 48, of Clearwater.

This comes a day after Clearwater Police and Clearwater Fire & Rescue responded to a water rescue at 6 p.m. behind the Edge Hotel, 505 S. Gulfview Blvd.

A man dived into the water from a dock behind the hotel and was unconscious when he surfaced.

He was taken to Morton Plant Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
