May One-Hits Yankees in Suspended Game

The Threshers and Yankees completed the first half of the Florida State League schedule with a 2-2 suspended game on Wednesday.

This game belonged to the Threshers, who carried a 2-0 lead entering the ninth inning. With ace closer Justin Friend now a member of AA Reading, Eric Pettis was in charge of saving this game. After getting a three up, three down inning in the eighth, Pettis allowed two singles around a double in the ninth. This tied the game and sent it into extra innings stealing a victory away from Trevor May.

May was brilliant on the night with 14 strikeouts in seven complete innings, giving up just one hit. May leads the FSL in strikeouts and improved his ERA to 3.23.

Jonathan Singleton, 19, had a coming-out party on Tuesday with his six RBIs. He kept it going on Wednesday with two more hits and a walk in five times to bat.

On deck: The Threshers return home on Thursday to face the Daytona Cubs. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Need to Know: The GC Phillies lost their first game of the season, allowing the GC Braves to rally from being four down to win 8-6. Nondrafted free agent (2010) William Rice went 2-for-3 with a triple.
