Missing Kayaker Found Dead On Clearwater Beach
The 18-year-old who disappeared while kayaking in Dunedin has been found dead in Clearwater, Pinellas County authorities say.
CLEARWATER, FL — A kayaker who disappeared over a week ago at Honeymoon Island State Park in Dunedin has been found dead on Clearwater Beach, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office said.
A person found the body of Elias Guillermo Lara Vargas, 18, around 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.
They added his death does not appear to be suspicious. An official cause of death was not released.

At the time of Vargas' disappearance on Jan. 18, three people were kayaking on the water when two of them drifted far from shore and capsized because of the waves, authorities previously said.

A 19-year-old woman was rescued, taken to a hospital for evaluation and has since been released, authorities said.
Both kayaks were recovered near Caladesi Island, south of Honeymoon Island, authorities said.
Multiple law-enforcement agencies searched for Vargas, including the U.S. Coast Guard and Clearwater Police.
Coast Guard crews searched by air and sea, covering about 290 square miles in 10 to 15 mph winds and 3- to 4-foot seas, the agency said.
The Coast Guard suspended the search for Vargas on Jan. 19.
