Motorcyclist Dies After Hit-And-Run Crash On Courtney Campbell

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning in a hit-and-run crash on the Courtney Campbell Causeway, police said.

TAMPA, FL - A motorcyclist was killed Saturday morning in a hit-and-run crash on the Courtney Campbell Causeway, police said.

About 1:35 a.m. Saturday, Yasiel Ramirez Guitierrez, 24, was riding his motorcycle westbound on the Courtney Campbell at a high rate of speech. The motorcycle struck the rear of a pickup that had made a U-turn at the Ben T. Davis traffic light. The impact caused Guitierrez to be ejected from his motorcycle and land on the roadway.

Guitierrez was subsequently struck by two other vehicles while lying on the roadway. One of these vehicles remained at the scene, but the other fled westbound on the Courtney Campbell. Guitierrez died at the scene.

The westbound lanes of the Courtney Campbell Causeway were closed for several hours on Saturday morning.
