No Injuries in Hyatt Regency Fire

The small blaze caused evacuations on two floors of the Clearwater hotel Wednesday morning.

A Wednesday morning fire at the Hyatt hotel on Clearwater Beach forced a two-floor evacuation, but resulted in no injuries, officials are reporting.

The blaze broke out just before 9 a.m. in the kitchen of a condo unit on the hotel’s fifth floor, city spokesman Rob Shaw said. The fire was small and was brought under control rather quickly.

All told, about 35 firefighters from Clearwater and Largo were called out to the 301 S Gulfview Blvd. scene. The hotel’s fifth and sixth floors were evacuated as a precaution, but the hotel itself was not, Shaw noted.
