Police Say DNA Ties Clearwater Man To Sept. 10 Rape

CLEARWATER, FL — A 34-year-old Clearwater man has been arrested after DNA testing implicated him in a rape that occurred Sept. 10.

William Walden was charged with sexual battery and booked into the Pinellas County Jail late Monday.

According to Clearwater Police, Walden is accused of meeting a woman in the 1300 block of Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard and driving her to a parking lot in the 700 block of North Saturn Avenue where police said he dragged her from the vehicle, beat her and raped her.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment and to collect DNA for analysis. Clearwater detectives recently received the results of the analysis linking Walden to the crime.
